Bringing the world to the wrist

A call to adventure! A travel invitation! The light yet sturdy new Admiral’s Cup Challenger 48 Day & Night is a beacon, a point of reference for both businessmen and adventurers. Endowed with all the signature codes that make Admiral’s Cup watches so unique and thus recognizable at first glance, this new model also puts the world within reach. A map of the world viewed from the North Pole enables instant visualization of the time zones as well as of which zones are in daytime or nighttime around the world at any given moment. This world map complete with day/night indication is a first within the Admiral’s Cup collection.

The Admiral’s Cup watch was born in 1960. For over 50 years, this unequivocally identifiable icon – with its twelve-sided bezel and its nautical pennants on the inner bezel ring – has kept pace with its times, consistently radiating an aura of timeless youthfulness. Symbolizing an enduring story and indeed a history rather than just an era, the Admiral’s Cup collection comprises three separate universes: the Legend line with its elegant design and classic functions; the sporty and distinguished Challenger line suitable for wear on all occasions; and finally, the rugged and sophisticated Seafender line.

Featuring an imposing grade 5 titanium case measuring 48 mm in diameter, the new Admiral’s Cup Challenger 48 Day & Night provides peerless legibility. The dauphine-type openworked hour and minute hands are enhanced at the tips with a luminescent substance, while the seconds hand features the famous Corum key epitomizing the brand identity, and the date window at 3 o’clock rounds off the basic functions.

However, the main attraction of this authentic time “show” appears at the center of the dial adorned with a Côtes de Genève finish. A world map transferred on the metal and bearing the 24 time-zone grid pattern is topped by a transparent rotating disk. The latter plays a dual role: around its circumference, a small white indicator – adjustable via the crown – points to a second time zone. This function enables the user to check the time in another part of the world at any given moment. Moreover, when the white indicator is adjusted to GMT, the rotating disk which is tinted on half of its surface will show which side of the Earth is lit up by the Sun and which is plunged in darkness.

The dial is rimmed by a vulcanized black rubber bezel and protected by a glareproofed sapphire crystal such as also appears on the back of the watch. This new Admiral’s Cup Challenger 48 Day & Night is available in two versions: the first, symbolizing nighttime, is issued in a 200-piece limited edition and features a black dial and continents; while the second evoking daytime is produced in a 150-piece limited series and carries a light grey map and dial. Both interpretations are water-resistant to 300 meters and fitted with a rubber-look black leather strap fastened by a grade 5 titanium pin buckle engraved with the Corum logo.
