After seven years at the head of Harry Winston Timepieces, transforming what was a small entity of the iconic New York jeweller into one of the global leaders in high-end watchmaking, Maximilian Büsser has set upon creating the first ever Horological Concept brand “MB&F”.

The Brand: MB&F stands for Maximilian Büsser & Friends

The Concept: The first ever community of independent craftsmen and women, artisans and creators assembled each year for the sole purpose of creating together one world premiere mechanical timepiece. All extremely talented people Maximilian has had the privilege to enjoy working with over his last 15 years in watchmaking. Individuals with unique competences who have reunited for one common goal: to create what has never been done, and who will all be credited for their participation.

The Product: amazing, just amazing... and always embodying shared values of exceptional mechanical horology mixed with innovative thinking.

The Timing: The first watch should be delivered around November 2006 and will be crafted in a very limited series of 30 watches over the following 12 months.

The product press release will be sent out in September 2006.

Maximilian Büsser was born in Milano, Italy, before moving at an early age to Lausanne, Switzerland where he spent his youth. Brought up in a multi-cultural environment and family – Father was a Swiss diplomat who met his mother, an Indian national, in Bombay – Maximilian has developed throughout the years a cross-cultural 360°approach to his life and to business.

In July 2005, at the age of 38, Maximilian created the first ever horological Concept Brand: MB&F (abbreviation of Maximilian Büsser & Friends). Sole owner and shareholder of this company, his dream is to assemble each year a small group of the most talented independent creators, artisans and watchmakers to create together an amazing world-premiere piece of horology. The first MB&F concept timepiece will see light end of 2006, and three others are already in the making.

Entrepreneurship is Maximilian’sforte. Seven years before, he was appointed, at the age of 31,Managing Director of the Harry Winston Timepiece operation based in Geneva. During that time, he developed this company into a fully fledged high-end timepiece operation, developing the strategy, products, marketing and worldwide distribution, whilst integrating design, R&D and manufacturing in house. The results were a 900% increase of turnover during the period, and the positioning of Harry Winston as one of the leaders in this very competitive segment.

Prior to Harry Winston, Maximilian’s love for high-end horology was strongly imprinted by his first employment, which was at Jaeger-LeCoultre, a traditional Swiss watch-making company which emerged and multiplied it’s turnover by ten, during the nineties. His responsibilities ranged over seven years from Product Management & Development to Sales & Marketing for Europe.

Maximilian graduated in 1991 with a Masters in Microtechnology Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne.
