The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie and the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship are moving to the historic Pont de la Machine building in Geneva. The two foundations will leave Meyrin and Bellevue respectively for their new home in the heart of the city.


Geneva, October 8^th, 2018 – This landmark, which stands on a bridge over the River Rhône, will house the respective headquarters of each foundation in recognition of the cultural values they promote, which Geneva values and supports. Services Industriels de Genève (SIG), owner of the building, will let the space which adjoins its “Quartier Libre” exhibition gallery.

Ideally matched by the complementary nature of their activity, both foundations will continue to independently fulfil their individual missions under this one roof. Since its creation, the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie has promoted the art of watchmaking and its attendant expertise; the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship highlights and encourages excellence in design and craftsmanship, a mission beautifully illustrated by the recent Homo Faber exhibition in Venice. These missions concern not just Geneva and Switzerland, but extend across Europe and throughout the world.

The Pont de la Machine building will open in summer 2019 when both occupants will publish their agendas, further adding to the international aura of the City of Geneva and its Canton.

A landmark of the city, the Pont de la Machine building enjoys a unique location on the Rhône, while its historical significance is perfectly aligned with the work of both foundations. This iconic building is where the present comes alive and the future takes shape, in the name of the arts, craftsmanship and ongoing excellence.



The Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship is an international, nonprofit institution based in Geneva, Switzerland, which celebrates and preserves master craftsmanship and strengthens its connection to the world of design.
