It all began back in 1982, when Ebel became an official sponsor of the promising young tennis player. From then on, Ebel was to accompany the champion throughout his sports career which was to earn him 20 titles including the Monte Carlo tournament in 1982 where he played with a Sport Classic on his wrist and in 1983 when Yannick won the French Open at Roland Garros, becoming the first French athlete to achieve this feat in a decade. In 1991, when Yannick won the prestigious Davis Cup as coach of the French team, Ebel served as official timekeeper for the competition.
Chronograph 1911 BTR with Calibre Ebel 137
Mutual respect and admiration
There are any number of reasons why Ebel is proud to be associated with an exceptional person such as Yannick Noah, who also represents a prime example of an excellent career transition through his success as a singer. He has always displayed a competitive nature combined with profound respect for the competition, an attitude entirely in tune with the Ebel philosophy. He radiates an authentic and endearing charm that is reinforced by his social and ethical commitment. Consistently promoting the ideals of tolerance and open-mindedness, he has earned well-deserved recognition as both a top-class sportsman and artist.
Since Yannick has always worn Ebel watches, it was a natural step for him to ‘adopt’ a watch from the brand’s latest exclusively masculine line, 1911BTR. He opted for the 1911 BTR Chronograph featuring vibrant yellow hands and yellow strap stitching. This rugged stainless steel model with black rubber pushbuttons and crown, black dial and 11 hand-applied SuperLumiNova hour-markers, is driven by Ebel’s proprietary Caliber 137 automatic chronograph movement, manufactured in Switzerland and chronometer-certified by the COSC. It also features the distinctive Architects of Time oscillating weight that has become a brand signature on men’s watches housing Ebel’s “in-house” movements.
This distinctive model was officially presented to Yannick Noah in Paris by Ludovic Letrillart (Ebel Vice-president Sales for Southern Europe and the Middle East) and Pascal Béchu (Head of Marketing for France). Yannick gave them a warm welcome, gleefully commenting that “the story continues…” Based on mutual respect, admiration and shared values, this is a genuine friendship forged over the past 25 years and clearly destined to last a lifetime.
