A pair of grand complications get an understated, vintage-inspired treatment
La Cote des Montres - June 26th, 2025

The latest Biver Carillon Tourbillon references conceal their complications behind clean, layered dials in different shades of gold.

The Carillon Tourbillon was the very first Biver watch, launched in March 2023, and we quickly began ex- perimenting with different ways this archetype could embody our house approach to watchmaking art. That led us to create various iterations with different dials, including hard stones, detailed engravings, and even openworked dials to further show off the beautiful mechanisms residing underneath. Across all these different creations, one thing remained the same: the tourbillon visible at six o’clock, with its unique cage and dramatic bridge. Until now.

We are excited to unveil two new expressions of the Carillon Tourbillon that take a more restrained approach without compromising on mechanical excellence or watchmaking artistry. The Biver Carillon Tourbillon Signature Series Two-Tone and Signature Series Titanium start with the same case profile and Calibre JCB.001-B movement as their predecessors, but with a new dial inspired by the Automa- tique that conceals the complications entirely. These new dials have an incredible vintage look that is perfectly complemented by the faceted white gold hands and applied white gold hour markers present on both introductions. Finishing things off is an applied white gold chemin de fer at the outer edge, adding additional depth to the richly textured dials.

Balancing act

“Our first watch, developed more than two years ago, was the Carillon Tourbillon. It represents not only one of the six masterpieces of the art of watchmaking, but certainly the most complex of them,” says co-founder Jean-Claude Biver. “This is a new expression of that complication that perfectly embodies Biver watchmaking as our brand continues to grow and evolve.”

When we speak about neoclassical watchmaking at Biver, we are speaking about being inspired by the past while also wanting to create something genuinely new that moves watchmaking art forward. The Carillon Tourbillon Signature Series Two-Tone and Signature Series Titanium are perfect embodiments of that approach. The combination titanium and rose gold case of the Signature Series Two-Tone is inspired by some of our favourite vintage references, while the monochromatic look of the Signature Series Titanium verges on futuristic. Both iterations balance the incredible complexity of the Calibre JCB.001-B with the simple appearance of a two-hand watch. With the tourbillon hidden underneath the dial, the minute repeater slide on the case’s left side is the only indication that something more extravagant is inside. The full pleasure of the watch is reserved for the wearer alone – and those they choose to share it with, of course.

“The Carillon Tourbillon with a closed dial is a celebration, highlighting both a reference that has defined so much of the brand’s DNA and the neoclassical beauty of the Automatique’s unique gold dials,” says CEO James Marks. “Visually, the watch feels smaller and more classical in its architecture, appealing to collectors who appreciate the stealth nature of this grand complication. It’s a very personal watch.”

Completing the Carillon Tourbillon Two-Tone Signature Series is Biver’s bespoke bracelet, with its faceted, asymmetrical links that integrate seamlessly with the case’s intricate design. For these new watches, it is rendered in either full titanium with a titanium folding clasp or a combination of titanium and 18k 5N rose gold with a matching rose gold folding clasp. Both feature a new easy link system for seamless adjustment, too. The watches are both available immediately from Biver’s online boutique as well as at our global retail partners and the Biver Lounge in Hong Kong.

Additionally, each of these two Signature Series watches is available with a pair of matching cufflinks. Hand-brushed gold inlays are framed by a concave bezel, referencing the finish and architecture of the corresponding watches themselves. A signed swivel back makes them easy to wear, whether paired with the watch or on their own, and they offer an additional way to express our house design language. The cufflinks are available in either titanium with brushed 18k white gold inlays or titanium with 18k 5N rose gold inlays, to pair with the Signature Series Titanium and Signature Series Two-Tone, respectively.

About Biver

A family approach to watchmaking

After 50 years at the highest echelons of the watchmaking business, Jean-Claude Biver decided to partner with his son Pierre Biver and to embark on a magnificent new adventure together. In 2023, the two passionate collectors launched a new kind of watch brand, making timepieces that push the boundaries of watchmaking art and chart a vision for the future of what high-end Swiss watchmaking can be. Liberated from the usual corporate constraints, they assembled a dream team of top specialists, each a master in their respective fields, to craft truly extraordinary timepieces without compromise. The inaugural creation, the Carillon Tourbillon, features a tourbillon, minute repeater, and a micro-rotor, and holds a special place in their hearts, and they are excited now to be laying the foundation for the future of the Biver brand with last year’s introduction of the anything-but-basic Automatique.
