Last winter, the Maxi Banque Populaire skippered by Loïck Peyron won the Trophée Jules Verne for sailing around the world as a crew with no stopovers and no assistance.

To mark this record, the Swiss fine watchmaking company Corum presented 19 dedicated timepieces, which it gifted to each team member.

One watch was also given to the Banque Populaire as the ship owner, and Banque Populaire wished to donate this watch to a charitable organization sharing its values.

Thanks to the joint mobilization of Banque Populaire and Montres Corum, one of these watches will be auctioned on behalf of Mecenat Chirugie Cardiaque.

These watches were created on the basis of the Admiral’s CUP model in titanium, but they are entirely personalized in the colors of the trophy and the sailboat.

One of these watches will be part of the Artcurial collector’s watchmaking auction to be held on Tuesday July 24^th 2012, at 6.30 pm in Monte Carlo (at the Hermitage Hotel).

Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque enables children affected by cardiac malformations and from underprivileged countries to be operated on in France when this is impossible in their homeland due to a lack of technical or financial means. Offered accommodation by voluntary host families and operated on in 11 hospitals in France (Angers, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Paris, Toulouse and Tours), almost 2,000 children have already been thus taken in hand since the Association was created in 1996.
