Lot N°311

Daniel Vachey, Paris, circa 1928. Very fine model of an interesting unidirectional constant force escapement presented to the 1929 Lépine Concours where it won the Gold Medal. Circular, 167 mm, frosted gilt, large going barrel, three-wheel train, based on a spring detent escapement with blued-steel helical balance spring and Earnshaw type compensation balance. The constant force is delivered from a small helical spring mounted on the escape wheel arbor and colleted to a plate set on the third wheel arbor concentric with the escape wheel. When impulse is delivered during the short drop, the escape wheel unlocks a small locking lever which, in turn, releases a fly fixed to the last train pinion, which consequently releases the train, which winds the escape wheel helical spring. Round wooden base, glass dome (repaired). Signed on the base. Dim. Height with the dome 25 cm, base diam. 22 cm. Good condition.
